Perisai Sarawak Borneo - Terabai Iban - Armor Shields

The Sarawak Armor Shields also called Perisai Sarawak or Terabai Iban was used for protection by the people of Borneo during early times until the 20th century. Iban, Bidayuh, Dayak, Kenyah, Kelabit and Kayan warriors, all used various types of these shields for protection when Sarawak was known as the "Land of Headhunters" and piracy was rampant. Nowadays these shields are used for decorative purposes and bought by the tourists as souvenirs and gifts to take back home. Local homes are also decorated with such items.
